WILLIAM ORTH

William Orth was born in Zainesville, Ohio. After moving with his family throughout the United States, William settled with his family in Cleveland, Ohio in the 3rd grade. After graduating from Mentor High School, William attended the University of Cincinnati where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with High Honors and was a member of Phi Betta Kappa National Honor Society. After graduation from Cincinnati, William attended Case Western Reserve University School of Law. While at Case Western Reserve, William was an editor on the Journal of International Law and gained valuable experience working extensively at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue P.A. and Wincek & DeRosa P.A..

In 1998, William and his wife Kristie moved to Orlando and he worked as a trial attorney for the Office of the State Attorney in Seminole County. He gained extensive trial experience as a misdemeanor and felony trial attorney, handling over 50 jury trials in 18 months. He left the Office of the State Attorney in 2000 and opened the law firm of Bigney & Orth, P.A. in Altamonte Springs, serving as Partner and President. While with Bigney & Orth, P.A. William focused solely on Family Law and Criminal Defense. During this time, he handled many more jury trials to include Family Law issues and Criminal Defense cases, including battery, theft, drug cases, resisting an officer, robbery, carjacking and attempted murder. Bigney & Orth, P.A. had offices in Altamonte Springs and Kissimmee and had a staff of 8 persons, including 2 associate attorneys.

In 2009, William left Bigney & Orth, P.A. and opened the Law Office of William S. Orth, P.A. in Lake Mary. He has since moved the practice to Longwood, Florida but accepts cases throughout Central Florida. His practice remains limited to Family Law and Criminal Defense.

William and his wife have two children, Grace and Tyler. His interests include spending time with this family, participating in water sports and participating in team sports.  He also coaches youth basketball, baseball and flag football.

-Mentor High School – graduated 1991.

-University of Cincinnati – graduated 1995 Magna Cum Laude with High Honors in Political Science and Phi Beta Kappa.

-Case Western Reserve University School of Law – graduated 1998 – Editor of the Journal of International Law.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

-Assistant State Attorney for the 18th Judicial Circuit 1998-2000.

-Partner and Co-Founder of Bigney & Orth P.A. 2000-2009.

-Partner and Founder of The Law Offices of William S. Orth P.A. 2009-present.

-Admitted to the Federal Court – Middle District of Florida.

OF COUNSEL – LORI PATTON

Before and through law school I worked for attorneys concentrating on family law, bankruptcy and civil litigation. Since becoming an attorney I have continued gaining experience in those same areas of law, including one year as a staff attorney for a Family Court Judge in Louisville, Kentucky and several years as an attorney representing the Florida Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement. My memberships include admission to both the Florida and Kentucky State Bar Associations, Federal Court, Western District of Kentucky and Middle District of Florida, Orange County Bar Association (Past Bankruptcy Section Chair) and Seminole County Bar Association, as well as the Central Florida Bankruptcy Lawyers Assocation (Past member of Board of Directors and Secretary) and National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA).
