Assault

This charge is any intentional unwanted threat, either verbally or by an action, with the intent to do harm to another person coupled with the ability to carry out said threat or act, creating a well-founded fear that the act will be carried out. This is usually a misdemeanor charge however, under certain circumstances, this can be a felony.  An example of facts that could lead to a felony charge are an assault using a weapon.  There are different types of felony charges involving weapons and different maximum punishments available to the Court.
